That's as far is it gets.
===================
GRUB Loading stage1.5.
GRUB loading, please wait...
===================
That's all I see when I try to boot my machine.
I have completely reinstalled, making certain to set things up as listed in the Install instructions. To the point of creating 3 partitions, /boot is ext2, /root is ext3, etc., etc.
I made sure to compile the kernel, and copy bzImage to /boot, and made sure that both ext2 and ext3 support were compiled in.
System: Gateway Solo 1150 laptop. Celeron 550, 6G HD, D-LINK 10/100 PCMCIA network adaptor.
Everything worked great during the install - no surprizes. All code was downloaded from the 'net as expected, with no compile failures (after I figured out you CANNOT turn off SMP support, or the kernel won't compile).
So... any ideas? |

grub doens't seem to like all systems, you might wanna try lilo
just emerge lilo
then cp /etc/lilo.conf.example /etc/lilo.conf
nano -w /etc/lilo.conf
make sure it's all pointing to the right place, save and exit
then from /etc run lilo
reboot |

Thanks. Using lilo did the trick... my system now boots up into Gentoo Linux as expected. |
