I'm following the desktop guide to configure sound and this is where I'm stuck...
HomeBrew root # cd /dev
HomeBrew dev # /usr/sbin/MAKEDEV audio

Did you read the line above it that says "non-devfs users only," if you haven't explicitly turned off devfs, you *are* a devfs user. _________________ - Kyle Manna

I didn't see that. my next question is how do I turn devfs off? or which other sound driver would you recomend that will work with devfs? |

ALSA does work with devfs, and you don't really want to shut it off. Devfs will automatically make the devices for you. Just skip to the next block in the doc you were reading. _________________ - Kyle Manna
