|
|
Note: I'm using the ppc version.
While trying to 'emerge system' I got this message:
checking for c++... no
checking for g++... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc -02 -pipe ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot create executables.
!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function src_comile, Line 1, Exitcode 1
!!! (no error message)
!!! emerge aborting on /usr/portage/sys-libs/db/db-3.4.3h-r4.ebuild .
Now, the funny thing about this is that it ran for several hours and appears to have compiled other programs sucessfully.
Is this a problem with the db ebuild or am I missing a compiler, or is it a configuration problem? |

What was the step you missed, as I'm having very similar problems with gcc.

Helps if you install the c++ compiler before trying to use it. |

Funny Not! If you at least read the message, you would know that we do have a c++ compiler installed. But that (for some unknown reason) the compiler won't work properly.
As in the message I posted before, this looks like a bug in Gentoo 1.1a, which doesn´t make me very happy. _________________ If you try to fail, and succeed. Which one have you done? |
