Hi all,
I have a suggestion regarding permissions...
It seems that there are a lot of questions/problems on the forum relating to permissions in linux. I know that there are a lot of books and how-to's etc to read to learn about these (I have read them), but it seems to me that perhaps the best way would be with an official or unofficial Gentoo Guide.
One problem with books and how-to's is that they will tell you how to CHANGE permissions, but not in any organized way. Each distribution seems to have it's own ideas of organizing permissions among programs, devices, and users, so that it seems very hard to decide how to do this on your own.
Perhaps a linux/gentoo expert could type something up with an hour or two of work?
What do you think? If someone is willing to do it roughly, I would be happy to volunteer to type it up nicely (e.g. with code listings etc.) for posting.
LMK,
Mark. |
