I used to wonder why all the new software I read about in
http://packages.gentoo.org/archs/x86/stable/gentoo_simple.rss
never shows up when I do -u world... until I took a closer look at the description of the RSS items in the feed:
Although its meant to be the x86-feed, it shows ppc, amd64, ... I guess it's just everything. I'm not even sure if it's stable packages only.
(http://gentoo-portage.com/RSS/Newest/x86, OTOH, works well and shows me during office hours what I'll get when I'm back home)

Is this a known issue or am I the only one who still has this feed in his newsreader? ;)

Without some specific examples from the recent entries, there's no way anyone can work out why you're not seeing the expected results.

Sorry, I though clicking on the provided links would make it pretty easy.

Take gnucash for example:
I see it today (Nov 30th) in the x86-feed with the following text:
Quote:
30 Nov 2008; Raúl Porcel (armin76) gnucash-2.2.7.ebuild:alpha/sparc stable wrt #248273

(bold print added)

If I read the changelog correctly, it went stable for x86 on Nov. 28th.

I believe this is because there's no way the rss feed can easily determine that the change was only to the KEYWORDS line of the package. It simply sees the fact that there was a commit to the package and that the package is x86 stable. It will be the same situation for all the feeds.

So what you saying is:

Yes, they have one feed for each architecture and then yet another one for each stable branch, but whatever you choose, you always get everything? Why would they have all these different feeds then?

It used to work.

And it still works on gentoo-portage.com

gentoo-portage.com is a completely different site with completely different code. If you believe it used to work as you describe, I suggest you file an issue at https://bugs.gentoo.org - many developers don't read the forums often, so it's far more likely to be seen by the right people via Bugzilla.
