I have a problem with KDM, or with the process which is trying to authenticate users. The symptoms are following:

1. I can't login using KDM, each time it says "wrong password" (I have no problem with login in console)
2. I can't unlock the screen in KDE after locking it. KDE is saying "wrong password" all the time.

It start happend when I decided to move from kde 3.5.x to 4 (svn).

Code:
ps aux | grep -i kdm
root      2562  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2565  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2569  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2570  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2574  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2577  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2580  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2586  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      2596  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   10:41   0:00 [kdmflush]
root      5569  0.0  0.0   3732   708 ?        Ss   10:41   0:00 /usr/kde/svn/bin/kdm
root      5836  0.4  0.4  47460 20028 ?        Sl   10:41   0:00 /usr/kde/svn/lib/kde4/libexec/kdm_greet

I was trying to replace the content of /usr/kde/svn/share/config/kdm/ directory with old config from kde 3.5 but it also doesn't help.

I have no idea what else I can do...
Any help will be appreciated.

Can anyone having kde-scm (SVN) can check if in his configuration exist a following file:
Code:
/etc/pam.d/kdm
and
Code:
/etc/pam.d/kcheckpass

I don't hava such files in mine.

I resolved my problem by reinstalling the kdebase-pam app.
It creates a two files
Code:
/etc/pam.d/kde
and
Code:
/etc/pam.d/kde-np

Fixxing and tweaking pam didn't work for me. What did work is:

Quote:
xdm/kdm will refuse any login attempts if the user has a weak password.
