I came home today to find this on the fileserver:

[img:07e692cf15]http://funkyorange.com/pete/stuff/kernelpanic.jpg[/img:07e692cf15]

(sorry for the large image)

Also when I reboot, i get the same thing.

Any suggestions on what I can do to get it up and running again?

Thanks in advance.

How about booting from a gentoo CD and doing a fsck. The kernel panic seems to occur while fscking - Maybe the part of the disc containing fsck.reiserfs or the kernel itself is corrupted on the disc and looking at them with a version known to work (from CD) can fix it ...

you dont need to chroot or mount anything.
Just boot from CD - and then type
Code:
fsck.resierfs /dev/hdaX

substitute X with the partition number ...
If the fs is corrupted fsck might ask you some questions - just answer with the default answer and hope for the best.

Actually, I think you had it spelled wrong. I just typed fsck.reiserfs /dev/hda3 and it did it thing.. hopefully it'll turn out well.

Thanks!
