startup, reboot or shutdown slowing down with OpenRC?
your mtimes may be set in the future: (cause = clock skew, or otherwise?)
In my case, i cloned one gentoo machine to another (with a stage4 backup) and the times got screwed. This fixed the time drift effectively.
Offending screens at startup, shutdown/reboot:
Code: | caching service dependencies ................................. |
One Solution is to manually reset mtimes
Code: | find . -print0 | xargs -o touch |
SOURCE = WIKI (general intro to the linux command 'touch' : google 'wiki touch' ==> examples of using touch to reset mtimes.) _________________ You'll always come back to GENTOOOOOOO ! (Trust me...)

Can anyone move this thread back to Other things gentoo, this surely doesn't belong do Documentation, tips and tricks... Well, marrowhk thanx for tip, this page is first when you try to google linux reset mtimes... In fact, we should never ask questions because you can just google for answers... Can anybody help? I first hit this bug, https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=224483 , now I installed coreutils from tinderbox and got greated with Caching service dependencies, I disabled the parallel startup and am writing this from sysrescuecd... touch now works but how do I reset mtimes?? |

I did, but as is usual with this forum people view the suggestion and are too lazy to comment, improve, help, etc ... with the post.
I no longer post in these forums because the sense of community has plummeted so much of late: people want answers and are not prepared to assist in return.
Gentooers, if one of your fellows gives you help then take the time to say thank you, or improve the suggestion by making a critical comment.

We really don't know each other well enough for you to be calling me baby.
Try something along these lines...
Baby! Don't post then; who cares anyway?
Grammar is a wonderful thing, you should try it sometime.
NOTES for notsocool people:
egalitarian ==> adj : favoring social equality; "a classless society" [syn: classless] _________________ You'll always come back to GENTOOOOOOO ! (Trust me...) |
