|
|
Hey folks,
I wanted to ask whether there is an info 'bout 2008.0s releasedate coz' I need to resetup my whole SetTopBox and I don't wanna use an old image with old profiles some days before newest versions release date. Despite of the many information about this release in this board and at the scheduler, I haven't found any releasedate for it.
Possibly one of you can tell.

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Gentoo Chat.
Should be coming soon, but the schedule is not cast in stone so it'll be released when it's done and not before.

As termite told you, there's no need to wait. Just grab the 2008.0 beta2 CDs and stages from the mirrors. _________________ Jorge.

Note that nixnut's reference was last updated on 1 April 2008. There isn't really
any point expecting a Gentoo release on any particular date; if the release is
available, use it - if it isn't, wait until it is. The best guess for 2008.0 is sometime
in the next few weeks or months.

Hi...A Gentoo newbie here .
I know this is a Gentoo chat section but....just wondering, will there be an *easy* migration path from beta2 to release?
Is it as simple as running eselect followed by a emerge --update --deep world ? Yes or no ? |

There won't be any easy migration from beta2 to release because there won't be any migration at all.
If you keep your box up-to-date, it'll be more recent than the release when it comes out. |

OK I know there were a few posts about this and someone commenting that the dates are not set in stone for the 2008.0 release etc. but I find this to be rather appalling and just really goes to reflect the Gentoo organisation as a whole.
If these dates are to be missed then a) some information as to why they have been missed would be good and b) updated dates would equally be as nice.
The dates have been announced by releng and just by putting above them "these are tentative" doesn't give you an excuse not to update them!
P.S. No I do not want to upgrade to a beta version. |
