Soor is my overlay with ebuilds of packages I find currently interesting.
Its currently hosting, among other things:
qt-copy enabled Qt3/4 - discuss here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-641645.html
Newspr enabled packages for LCD monitors - discuss here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-511382.html
You can browse the overlay here: http://repo.or.cz/w/gentoo-soor-overlay.git
And sync using git://repo.or.cz/gentoo-soor-overlay.git or http://repo.or.cz/r/gentoo-soor-overlay.git

A pretty n00bish question... I want to use the Newspr/lcd filtering/ubuntu patched font libs from the overlay, but Qt from portage. How can I configure portage to ignore the Qt builds from the overlay? _________________ "The hunt is sweeter then the kill."

Hmmm... good question. I honestly don't know, I haven't used portage since late 2006 .. _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

I'd say mask em. Dunno how to mask them effectively with portage though, also haven't used it in ages. In paludis i'd use group/package::overlay.

I'm not ready to switch to Paludis yet, so I simply deleted those ebuilds and added them to a .gitignore file. _________________ "The hunt is sweeter then the kill."

Good idea. I don't think there's any other way of handling it with portage/pkgcore. _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

I've added a live svn LyX, this should work without crashes on qt 4.4. Plz2test _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

I just realised we're all retarded
The ebuilds are exactly the same if you turn off the qt-copy USE-flag ... _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

Well, the real reason why I wanted to get rid of those ebuilds was that portage was complaining of some dependencies... different Qt versions. It doesn't happen now, after deleting the ebuilds... _________________ "The hunt is sweeter then the kill."

I have added opera to mozplugger's || ( ) browser dep block, as per https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=168354
It hasn't been tested against 9.27, so I'd appreciate some feedback if someone tries that
I've also added a USE flag to build LyX in monolithic mode. This is similar to the kdeenablefinal flag from KDE3, and incurs the same heavy memory use penalty as a trade-off for a (possibly) faster compile time. It appears to use 512mb of ram per -j, you have been warned _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

Just a friendly warning that qt-4.4.0_rc1 on my overlay is currently broken - I'm fixing it but it was taking too long via remote overlay so I'm using local cloning right now.
It should be fixed later today, depending on how many times I have re-extract in order to figure out which subset of the qt-copy patches applies to which split ebuild.
Doing it "right" is actually fairly tricky and interesting
edit: there. 4.4.0_rc1 with qt-copy done 'proper'
4.4.0 final patchset is ready, so as soon as they hit portage I'll have that too. _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

sorry guys, I'm used to svn:
Code: | git clone http://repo.or.cz/gentoo-soor-overlay.git
Initialized empty Git repository in /root/soor-overlay/gentoo-soor-overlay/.git/
Cannot get remote repository information.
Perhaps git-update-server-info needs to be run there? |
how do I use git? |

@mbar: dude, you forgot the /r/ cause you went over the http, it should be
the server is fine on, I've just synced.
@creidiki: I've had the autoconf issue with fontconfig. The solution is to apply fontconfig-2.5.0-libtool-2.2.patch from the tree and then it will build; I've manage to recompile all of the newspr stuff: fontconfig, freetype., libXft and cairo.
And thanks again for the overlay _________________ --- "Sungod, bless me with your rays..." --- |

Yah. I need to get off my butt and apply any libtool/autoHELL patches that have accumulated. I'll do it now ... maybe
edit: Mk, the libtool-2.2 patch is finally in - hey, better late than never right? _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

Can anyone with KDE4 check if mozplugger from my overlay works with krusader-4?
Also Opera 9.27 if anyone uses that, I know it runs on 9.50.
Thanks? _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

Is there an easy way to fix this? _________________ My emerge --info
Have you run revdep-rebuild lately? It's in gentoolkit and it's worth a shot if things don't work well.

Bugger. Ehm. Hmmmm. Ok, until I find the time to edit the ebuild myself, do this.
Find this section:
Code: | # Apply QT Copy patches:
if use qt-copy; then
EPATCH_MULTI_MSG="Applying QT-copy patches ..." \
EPATCH_FORCE="yes" EPATCH_SUFFIX="" epatch \
"${WORKDIR}"/qt-copy-${PV}-patches-${QT_COPY_SNAP}
fi |
And add a line that goes:
Code: | EPATCH_EXCLUDE="the_patch_that_fails.patch" \ |
above the 3-liner.
I /think/ EPATCH_EXCLUDE is the right variable, I don't have a linux-capable pc in front of me right now - or for the next couple of days for that matter. _________________ '((eINIT) (soor overlay)) |

Also Opera 9.27 if anyone uses that, I know it runs on 9.50.
Thanks? |

creidiki are you still alive? Do you intend to maintain this soor ovrlay further? Here patching fails on Quote: | Failed Patch: 0080_all_net-wm-sync-request-immqt-fix.diff ! | for qt-3.3.8-r4...
EDIT:
sorry, have overlooked post from above. |

Do you intend to maintain this soor ovrlay further? | It hasn't been updated for a month. media-libs/freetype has just been bumped to 2.3.6 in portage due to security issues, but soor-overlay's version is still the vulnerable 2.3.5-r2, so those using the improved subpixel LCD rendering stuff from this overlay may have a problem if this overlay isn't updated any more. _________________ If ~amd64 ebuilds are cutting edge, then git-9999 ebuilds are chainsaws.
