i was wondering, since intuit has a version of quicken for the mac, that means they have a version of quicken that runs on os-x. isn't reasonable to assume this version of quicken would be fairly easy to get running under linux? or am i missing something here?

In short, no. Even if you had the source, OSX programming is very different from Unix programming, and I'm fairly certain something like Quicken would be written for the OSX layer rather than the Unix layer. Without the source, considering the completely different binary format and such, you're more or less up the creek.
