kmod failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2

this is the first message.

SCSI host 2 channel 0 reset (PID 38 ) timed out - trying harder
SCSI bus is being reset for host 2 channel 0
SCSI host2 abort (PID 38 ) - resetting

this is the last infinite message.

The kernel is "kernel-2.4.22_pre2-gss"

I have installed Gentoo on the sda (Quantum) and i have a Suse8.2 (perfect) on the sdb

Your description is a bit lacking, so I don;t know what causes the problem.
Since I don't have SCSI disks I cannot reproduce it, but I know that I had an adaptec 29160 working without problems in Gentoo on a testmachine some time ago.

Please check your kernel configuration, maybe you forgot something?

I've checked the kernel and compiled the support for aic7xxx in the kernel directly, but the result is the same, the adaptec 29160 have two channel and is configuration is auto Termination... but only the fisrt channel is used.... probably the second channel is the problem??

That sounds like a termination problem. Basically with two channels used the SCSI cabling is like one long chain with the controller in the middle.

So maybe changing the termination options might help ...

If the aic7xxx module loads I guess it's a hardware problem, especially this error message seems suspicious to me.
