I saw the same stuff

Hey guys, I ran into the same stuff trying to emerge gnome. The fix I used was to change the -march in my CFLAGS in /etc/make.conf from athlon-xp to athlon. I left -O3 and a few other things. Sorry I can't copy in my whole CFLAGS, but I don't have X going on my machine yet, still compiling gnome

So, change your CFLAGS from:
-march athlon-xp

to:

-march athlon

athlon-xp seems to be broke. -O3 is the most important anyway.
