Hi,
I bought a extra 170MHz cpu for my sparcstation20. I can't wait to install the extra cpu, but I'm unsure if they don't make it too hot. Because they are only passive cooled they are getting hot. Installing the second cpu must be done on top of the first cpu, leaving 1 maybe 2 mm space between the cpu's. I'm afraid the lowest cpu will burn the one on top.
Anyone with some experience? |

I run a pair of Ross Hypersparc 150's in my SS20 and althought they do get hot they are designed with it in mind. As long as the little PS fan is running there's a small but steady flow though the box that's adequate for most combinations. There's a web page around on old sun box configurations that gives the safe and unsafe combinations ..

looks like 2 SM52's are the only combo he considers deadly .. |
