what nomerge?

Problems with emerge or ebuilds? Have a basic programming question about C, PHP, Perl, BASH or something else?

what nomerge?

Code: Select all

[nomerge      ] media-gfx/inkscape-0.45.1-r1 [0.45.1] USE="perl%* -jabber%"
[ebuild  N    ]  dev-python/numpy-1.0.4-r2  USE="-debug -lapack"
why is emerge -t saying nomerge here? Even though it's just an r1 it still goes off and downloads 13MB of sourse.

Code: Select all

==> SYST ... done.    ==> PWD ... done.
==> TYPE I ... done.  ==> CWD /pub/os/linux/gentoo/distfiles ... done.
==> PASV ... done.    ==> RETR inkscape-0.45.1.tar.gz ... done.
Length: 13,244,235 (13M) (unauthoritative)
I assume it's intending to build it ! :?

there are several other cases:

Code: Select all

[nomerge      ] kde-base/ksvg-3.5.9 [3.5.8]
[nomerge      ]  media-libs/lcms-1.17
[ebuild     U ]   media-libs/tiff-3.8.2-r3 [3.8.2-r2]
why does it show a rev increase but nomerge? It does not make sense.

TIA, Gentree. 8)

Looks like a bug. Afaik nomerge means that it's a dependency that is already satisfied. So it doesn't need to be emerged. But it looks like if there is an update it does download the source file if you don't have it already.
Or maybe it's related to https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189116

Is that the full output of "emerge -t"? "nomerge" can also mean that the package in question will be merged earlier in the operation, and that it's being shown here to keep the tree consistent.
