There is a known problem when using this combination:
aiglx, i810 and compiz-fusion.
It might be a problem with other video cards as well.
Problem:
when swiching to fullscreen then the screen flickers and so on, no way to wach videos this way.
I think there will be a solution soon with new drivers? Maybe there is a better solution.
Solution:
X11 (XImage/Shm) is the only video output of mplayer that does not have this problem with compiz-fusion.
But you can not strech it.(no fullscreen)
Open up the compiz config editor:
Enable enhanced zoom dektop.(i disabled the normal zoom)
Then edit the Actions>Zoom Moovment>Fit zoomed ara to window
and also the Zoom out.
Open up the mplayer skins background:
default skins file is: /usr/share/mplayer/skins/default/subblue.png
Draw it black(or some other colour)
You are now all set:
open up a video, focus on the video window, press the "Fit zoom area to window" combination and then put mplayer into fullscreen(by pressing F key).
Sit back and enjoy
Bad things:
if you move the mouse, then you will move out of the video(it can be positive, i like when the video is in the uper part of the screen and whan i am waching something from the bed then i can easely see the other video names after the video has finished _________________ http://mardicas.dyndns.org |

Okay, i googled
Another way to do this is using the same X11 video output and enabling zooming.
gmplayer -vo X11 -zoom <file>
or add to the .mplayer/config file:
zoom = "yes"
But this requires more CPU, so waker processors might not make it. _________________ http://mardicas.dyndns.org |

I am not sure if it is legal but here link to old mplayer svn snapshot with patch which I found somwhere in fedora forum (if I remember well). with it you can use xv for output and have compiz fusion with intel card.
'configure && make && make install' will compile it and install it in /usr/local/. 'make uninstall' uninstalls it.
