Hi, I have a HP compaq nx9005 and have a few queeries.
First Up. Im having issues with Synaptics touchpad in 2.6. It doesnt get recoginised and i do have the 2.6 version of the xfree driver. I found the kernel option psmouse_noext=1 will cause it to work partially but with no scroll wheel effect using the up/down arrows to the right of the pad.
With the psmouse_noext=1 option i get this in /proc/bus/input/devices
I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Version=0000
N: Name="Synaptics Synaptics TouchPad"
P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
H: Handlers=
B: EV=1b
B: KEY=670000 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
B: ABS=1000003
B: MSC=4
Second up, and most odd is the ACPI / SMP problem im having. I found that with 2.6-test-mm2 i could have ACPI enabled and working without SMP. In 2.6-test3-mm3 i cannot select theACPI option in menuconfig without SMP selected. when i boot with SMP and ACPI compiled in the kernel hangs at the ACPI stage. If i do acpi=off kernel option the kernel boots but of course without ACPI. |

First off, I do believe there's a Synaptics driver inside the 2.6 kernel now, don't think you still need an external driver.
The ACPI-is-gone-when-SMP-isn't-selected phenomenon is a known bug. |
