|
Hello there,
I just have finished my first Gentoo install, from stage I, on a machine that I will use as a Web server (Apache, MySQL, PHP, OpenLDAP, CVS, SSH, etc...). I would now like to recompile the kernel but, after reading the kernel guide, I still don't know which one to choose for the task: gs-sources or hardened-sources.
In addition, I wanted to ask which USE flags should be set for the box. I was thinking: apache2, crypt, curl, gd, imap, innodb, ldap, libwww, mcal, lysql, pdflib, png, readline, sasl, spell, ssl, tiff, truetype, xml2, xlib, x86. Is there anything missing and is this step necessary?
If this step is necessary, is it necessary to recompile everything based on these new flags. If yes, is there any easy way for me to do so? Would an emerge --update system and an emerge --update world rebuild everything based one the new USE flags?
Many thanks in advance for any help you could provide for these 3 questions.
