|
|
hi everyone.
today i did my first "ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~X86" emerge --deep world -U".
after using etc-update to merge changes in configuration files, i rebooted,
only to be presented with several messages in the form of 'FATAL: module
[name] not found'.
the boot continued, and my system seemed to be working fine. some
modules which were mentioned in those FATAL lines i was sure about i
would never use (a module for a tape-device for instance), so i assumed(!)
that i would not need the others, again, also because my system appeared
to work just fine.
i set out to browse through config files (and was sent from file to file since
many said 'do not edit this one, but edit [filename] instead) and ended up
with using a trick i learnt during my slackware-days.
i edited /etc/modules.d/aliases and added a line for each of the modules
listed during boot as part of the FATAL messages, like this:
alias [module] off
this prevents the modules from being called (at least that is how i have
always seen it, please correct me if it does something else entirely).
since i heard of some others with FATAL: lines too i thought it'd post about
my solution here.
enjoy. |
