|
|
Firefox and Thunderbird suddenly will crash seconds after starting, or if I click in a webpage, or if I move the mouse wheel. Sample error console output: | Code: | firefox -jsconsole
(gecko:13429): Pango-WARNING **: failed to create cairo scaled font, expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Nimbus Mono L 9'
/usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher: line 119: 13429 Segmentation fault $(type -P aoss) "$mozbin" "$@"
firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (139)
|
[EDIT]: Fixed! Followed This topic on x.org fonts and, following a | Code: | | cat /var/log/Xorg.1.log | grep WW | , removed all missing/defective directories in my /etc/X11/xorg.conf FontPath.
[EDIT 2]: Not fixed! http://www.gnome.org/projects/tracker/start.html kills firefox as soon as I scroll the page. _________________ Proprietary is theft. Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, if he had a chance

I am now using Opera, because as I received the email from the forums reporting the above reply, thunderbird crashed when I clicked the link, and so did firefox when I opened the email through my webmail. W00t? _________________ Proprietary is theft. Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, if he had a chance

Moved ~/.mozilla to ~/.mozilla.off, removed thunderbird's addons, the crashes persisted.
Worse off, I realise the font problem is not what is causing the crashes, as it appeared in the mozilla's error console without crashing firefox. _________________ Proprietary is theft. Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, if he had a chance

OK, something to work with. The binary packages for thunderbird and firefox do not crash. Maybe that's gentoo bugreport-worthy? _________________ Proprietary is theft. Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, if he had a chance

I've received no feedback in Gentoo Bugzilla, but I found that with USE="moznopango", mozilla apps stop crashing. That is obviously some issue between pango and mozilla, but seems that no one cares, so I'll leave it there. _________________ Proprietary is theft. Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, if he had a chance
