Much Rejoycing!

I finally finished my installation on a dual processor Ultra60. I did run into a couple questions though.

One, anyone know offhand what IDE controller to use for the floppy disk?

Two, does the CS4231 work on the U60? Its listed under SBUS when installed as a module, so wasn't sure.

Third, I keep getting:
Code:

INIT: Id "c0" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

Any guesses on that?

There are still some errors on bootup that I'm trying to figure out, but other than that, it appears to be working fine.

It seems the init issue was due to the lack of a module being loaded. Not sure which one it was, since I added 5 more to modules.autoload and the error went away.

Would it be possible to have the default rc.conf use a different KEYMAP than 'sun'? On the Ultra60s at least, that generated an error from loadkeys. Changing my keymap to sunkeymap resolved the issue. I also commented out the EXTENDED_KEYMAP, since I don't have 'windowkeys'.

Thanks everyone.

Its amazing what you figure out when you start looking at every file on a system. The c0 error came up because initially I wasn't loading the serial module for the Ultra60, now I am, which is why it went away. c0 being the serial console getting started in inittab.

Go figure, RTFM actually worked.

Concerning floppy: The Sparc-60 Reference Manual implies that the Floppy
drive comes in to the SCSI controller. (See Sun Part Numbers:
805-1762-11, 805-1709-12, both available at sunsolve.com.)

On a dual-U60 I grabbed a floppy I had been using on a Solaris
and just tried:
Code:

mount -t msdos /dev/floppy/0 /mnt/gentoo
ls /mnt/gentoo
total 208
   7 ./     4 ../    32 aspectr.tgz*    87 rubygsl.tgz*    78 simruby.tz2*

And, what I have in the kernel '.config' is
Code:

CONFIG_MSDOS_PARTITION=y
CONFIG_FAT_FS=m
CONFIG_VFAT_FS=m

So, you should be able just to put a floppy into the drive and try
Code:

fdisk /dev/floppy/0

I don't think anything on a U60 is IDE, is it :?
