I just emerged gthumb to the lates version 1.102
sadly it does not display any TIF files as id dit on my RedHat box.
Probably some configure error.
But how can I enable tif support with the portage system?

Did you set tiff as a USE variable?

Ok, figured it out:
gtk+ was build without tiff support:
just changed this and now all gnome2 apps can handle TIFFs again
