|

I have just switched to the SLiM graphical login manager and discovered that KDE no more provides ability to restart or shutdown my computer. Any ideas? |

Well, "Offer shutdown option" was checked. That it is the first thing I have looked at. If I start KDE using startx then it also does not offer shutdown option. Is there a way to fix that? |

Just a shot in the dark, maybe X is not started as root by the SLiM ? If you startx this happens too... |

I don't think that is possible without hacking a bit into ksmserver.
In fact, my memory served me well today, and I rememred seeing this on the kde 3.5 changelog:
Code: |
KSMServer
* Recognize GDM as login manager and activate "shutdown" and "reboot" options. Luigi Toscano <luigi.toscano@tiscali.it>, Oswald Buddenhagen <ossi@kde.org>
|
You can read it here:
http://developer.kde.org/development-versions/kde-3.5-features.html
The same problem was for GDM until not long ago, so you will probably need a similar fix for SLIM as well. |
