Hi
I have GA-7VAX Mainboard (GigaByte) with 512MB RAM, Athlon XP 2400
and GeForce4 Ti 4200 AGP 8x, and an IBM 80Gb drive.
I have managed to compile 2.6.o-test2 kernel and to run with it
i aswell have latest (stable) XFree from portage and lates (unstable) drivers for nvidia 4496 or something similar.
These are question regarding performance (answer should say this is normal or not and if there is a way to step it up)
HD:
hdparm /dev/hda
dev/hda:
multcount = 16 (on)
IO_support = 1 (32-bit)
unmaskirq = 1 (on)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
readahead = 256 (on)
geometry = 28488/16/63, sectors = 160836480, start = 0
hdparm -tT /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 1040 MB in 2.00 seconds = 518.78 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 96 MB in 3.08 seconds = 31.15 MB/sec
are this normal results or can (should I get better) ?
GLX:
1600x1200 24bit
glxgears
15702 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3140.400 FPS
15387 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3077.400 FPS
15422 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3084.400 FPS
15416 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3083.200 FPS
15203 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3040.600 FPS
more /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Enabled
Driver: NVIDIA
AGP Rate: 8x
Fast Writes: Disabled
SBA: Disabled
is this normal and should i get more ?
Also with 2.4.20 i didn tave problems with my on board Promise PDC20276
RAID/ATA controler however udner 2.6 controles is found but no drives on it if i turn fasttrack option in kernel then it finds drives but cant boot at all hangs after finding drives).
Also according to lspci I have na 8139/8139C/8139C+ Realtek card it doesnt work with 8139cp driverom from 2.6 but only with 8139too and then only when pci=noacpi otherwise interface is unusable.
Any solutions to those problems and does anyone have similar ?
