|
|
Quite a few people seem to be having problems with SATA disks (particularly getting DMA working) using SiImage controllers on nForce2 motherboards.
I've just tried out the latest ac-sources-2.4.22-pre10-r1, which has a further tweak to the siimage.c driver.
For the first time, I've got DMA working on boot (without having to call hdparm on startup). It takes about 10 secs off my boot time, and I don't have to call hdparm (which used to hang about one time in five).
"hdparm -t /dev/hda" gives 50.67 MB/sec.
So if you're still having problems, this kernel could be worth a try.
I still boot with "pci=noacpi", but I now seem to have everything else working on this board.
FYI, I've got a Maxtor SATA drive on an Abit NF7-S motherboard, with an Athlon 2600. |

So the SATA driver is finally updated, amazing. I'm using 2.6 test 2 though, no way I am going back to 2.4 : ) |
