I tried the Gentoo LiveCD tonight. I could never get it to work with my desktop, because it wasn't liking my monitors frambuffer mode. But I tried it on my laptop, and it works great, everything autoconfigured, and I get to chose from 2 Desktop evirnoments and Flux. I am still awaiting to see how my friend is doing with the PPC one I gave him. Great job guys. Good work.

I have a old Sony Vaio PCG-F430. with 450Mhz, 6GB, 64MB RAM. As you can see, it's not the most new, but Gentoo works prefetly onit, just pick soemthing light like Fluxbox, and it runs good for me because i have 64GB RAM, but if your g-f has something like more, A desktop enviroment would work fine, I reckon. It runs smoothly. And very hardware suportive.. |
