|
|
Hey all
I got 2 computers at home, a 3ghz p4 and an p3 667 laptop. Naturally any attempt to emerge openoffice has resulted in complete frustration on my laptop. Not to mention that it locks up during compile finished only with:
# 1"" and no error.
I remember reading somewhere what i'm about to ask but i haven't been able to find it since.
Is it possible to cross compile openoffice on my desktop computer (with corrected CFLAGS, and transfer the compiled openoffice file to my laptop to install.
If so how ?
Thanks. _________________ Every begining is another begining's end. |

emerge with --buildpkgonly on your desktop
and emerge with --usepkg the resulting package on your laptop
see "man emerge" |

--buildpkg will only work across two machines if the CPU is the same (other factors may be relevant too).
I've read responses to similar questsions pointing people to distcc, though I'm not sure how to use it. If I find a good thread, I'll add it to the FAQ.
Moved from Installing Gentoo. |

same cpu ? does it matter that one's a p4 and the other's a p3? I've set my cflags from my lappy to my desktop already! that should be it right ?
I'll change the cflags back when i'm done. _________________ Every begining is another begining's end. |
