This is only half gentoo oriented, but you guys are so good about having good advice I have to try you.
I have 2 computers, one with gentoo on it and without acpi support, the other has debian stable and acpi support. I wanted acpi to work so I took the linux-2.4.20-gentoo-r5 kernel from my other box and compiled on the one with acpi support since that kernel has acpi support and my debian kernel doesnt. I got everything happily working except that any program that gets processor usages stats from /proc/stat reports full cpu usage by the system at all times (clearly erroneous behavior). If I throttle the processor down then back up it will usually correct the problem for 10 minutes or so before it goes bonkers again. I have scoured google for information pertaining to this but to no avail. Clearly this isnt a performance hindering problem, but I would really like my processor meters to work. Any clue as to what is going on here is much appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance. |
