|
|
I'm trying to find a way to do something that seems tantalizingly possible, but I still haven't quite found the tools to manage it.
I have two computers:
A - has a desktop environment, and all sorts of applications from xmms to mplayer that like to make sound. It has a sound card, to which all the sound is currently going, but no speakers attached.
B - is mostly a server, but has the speakers.
What I want to do is this: any sound that is played on "A" gets transported over the network to "B", and runs through the sound card on "B" to its speakers.
Is this possible? I've been looking at all sorts of tools, but haven't found anything that really jumps out. A few look like they *could* do that (for example, NAS), but I have no idea how to make it happen.
TIA! |

Thanks, but what exactly does that mean?
Does this mean that only applications especially written to use "esound" will be able do this?
For example, if I wanted xmms, mplayer, and mythtv to all redirect sound to the remote machine -- would esound be able to do this? Is there a FAQ somewhere?
TIA! |
