Hi,
Sometimes, I would like to know more about a poster, so I go under his profile and check all post he/she did.
More often than not, the poster is responding to someone which he quoted, but in this view the quoting disappears, leaving the impression that the poster actually is asking. Ok an exemple may tell better

I thought netbios/wins.... was not written by Devon as this thread can confirm:

Ok that's nothing tragic, but sometimes when you try to make sure the guy know what he is talking about, and find out such history, it can be confusing
So, I would suggest to remove the quoted part in history, or to explicitly mark it quoted as in the original post.
Thanks for your attention
Ben
P.S. cheers Devon |

I think that would require a change of the phpBB code. If you know php, klieber/rac may be interested in a patch.

Yeah, I think this has been happening in phpBB ever since we started using it. If it's fixed in a future release, then it will be fixed here. It could be intentional in an effort to make the search pages load more quickly. You would have to ask the phpBB guys about that. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

Well as I said, nothing tragic, let's call it a feature
@devon: sadly enough my whole 40 lines of PHP code is proprietary (too ashamed to open it)
@masseyea: I may take it to the phpBB people. My feedback here was just in case some parameter had been overlooked. I understand the need for size, was just thinking: if one snip <X wrote>, then it would be normal to snip what X actually said too
Cheers everybody and thanks for your replies,
Ben |
