two questions:
is there a possibility i can extract archives directly from gnome? i have to go over the console (bad). i want like in kde to right-click on an archive and then select extract here... thx!
another question:
how can i edit the gnome menu? i dont want entrys like "take a screenshot" or search files etc. these enerve me! thx

Maybe you want to try this site:

You will find here some very useful tools to nautilus such as compressing and extract select archives and burning select archives, all this from the context menu.

Install File Roller
emerge fileroller
If that's done, to unpack an archive in Nautilus you just click it, fileroller will open it in a new window and you can drag the files whereever you want as if they were in a usual folder (or just use filerollers extract option). Of course you can also create files with fileroller (by dropping files in it's window).
I think it's not yet decided if fileroller will be the "standard" way of handling archives for Nautilus or if it will be done using GnomeVFS (so you can browse archives like a folder). |
