The Doom 3 error is because you don't have ATI drivers installed.
The ATI drivers error is because you don't have /usr/src/linux correctly symlinked to your real kernel directory (I.E., /usr/src/linux-2.6.22-gentoo-r2)

Just two guesses

so how would i use this? where is the old path? (and isnt there a file whic allows me to edit it instead of throwing a command?

I don't think ati-drivers-8.35.5 supports the 2.6.22 kernel. Try the latest one (8.40.4) instead. Unmask it then emerge it.

here are no ebuilds to satisfy "=x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.40.4".

Wait, slow down!
It seems like you don't really know how to use portage...
So i would suggest that you update portage with "emerge --sync" and then install the drivers from portage.
You can find a lot of useful guides on http://gentoo-wiki.com/Main_Page (It seems to be down for now)
And if you would have read the "aticonfig --help" output you would have tried this I think:
Code:
Examples:
  1. Setting up fglrx for the first time.
Single head :    aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf

So you can run "aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf" without any problem?
What is your output of "glxinfo"?

Seems to me like you haven't installed the ati-drivers or something went wrong. Because it should be in the list.
Code:
zed # eselect opengl list
Available OpenGL implementations:
  [1]   ati *
  [2]   xorg-x11

Well i got to get some sleep... Emerge ati-drivers again but if that doesn't solve it i don't really know what to do. (It worked flawlessly on my setup with the same kernel)
