|
|
I've just discovered something very strange with the hotplug files in my /etc. As root, I attempted an etc-update...
Code: | # etc-update
Scanning Configuration files...
find: /etc/hotplug.d/default: Permission denied
find: /etc/hotplug/pci: Permission denied
find: /etc/hotplug/usb: Permission denied
Exiting: Nothing left to do; exiting. :)
|
This was triggered by finding
Code: | * error scanning /etc
|
at the end of an emerge and seraching for the cause. I have since tried unsuccessfully to re-emerge sys-apps/hotplug-20030501-r2 (as root) but cannot read or remove these files and directories nor even see their permissions.
I point out that this is basically a fresh gentoo install, as my laptop's hard drive had to be replaced this weekend
Any hints on how to fix this weirdness, and even where it comes from? Thanks! |

Hi,
Just out of the blue: Maybe your hotplug system is in use, and thus cannot be changed ATM. In this case /etc/init.d/hotplug stop and the emerge unmerge hotplug and emerge hotplug may work
