i810fb [solved]

I can't seem to get the framebuffer working. I have an Intel 82815, but for some reason it just won't go. I'm using kernel 2.6.20. If I do a modprobe i810fb I get this:

Code: Select all

WARNING: error inserting cfbfillrect (/lib/modules/2.6.20-gentoo-r8/kernel/drivers/video/cfbfillrect.ko): Invalid module format
WARNING: error inserting cfbimgblt (/lib/modules/2.6.20-gentoo-r8/kernel/drivers/video/cfbimgblt.ko): Invalid module format
WARNING: error inserting cfbcopyarea (/lib/modules/2.6.20-gentoo-r8/kernel/drivers/video/cfbcopyarea.ko): Invalid module format
WARNING: error inserting fb (/lib/modules/2.6.20-gentoo-r8/kernel/drivers/video/fb.ko): Invalid module format
The modules it's trying to load are being compiled (according to the output of a make && make modules_install), so I'm not sure why it's reporting they're in an invalid format. Any ideas where to go?

Well...I fixed that problem, but I'm still not getting a framebuffer. My grub.conf looks like this

Code: Select all

timeout 5
default 0

title=Gentoo
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/kernel-2.6.20-gentoo-r8 root=/dev/hda5 video=i810fb:xres=1024:bpp=16:vram=2:hsync1=30:hsync2=55:vsync1=60:vsync2=60
Once I reboot and login, I can do an lsmod and I get

Code: Select all

Modules Size Used by
tulip 43296 0
intel_agp 19484 1
agpgart 23216 1 intel_agp
So.......seems it's not loading.

Try including the i810fb in the kernel itself instead of as a module?
