I just rebooted my system after the install and I get this message after I

Code:

ok boot disk

boot message
Code:

Boot device: /pci@1f,0/ide@d/disk@0,0  File and argus:
SILO Version 1.4.13
boot:
Allocated 8 Megs of memory at 0x4000000 for kernel
Loaded kernel version 2.6.20

Remapping the kernel... done.
Booting Linux...

It just hangs there. The only thing that I know of that I have changed is in the fstab.
The instructions say make the /dev/hda1 ext3 but I made mine ext2 because at the
beginning when your formatting the first mount point you mk2fs. So I don't know if that
is the problem or not. Thank for any help in advance also if need me to post any other
just let me know.

hmph. never heard of it. Something tells me you don't want to hear "try grub." Good luck!

Yeah, like grub will work on SPARC.
Is this a new install? If yes: check your kernel config, use the installcd config as a basis for yours.

lol..... I did basically use the installcd kernel config. I'm going back and checking it now. I'm assuming it has something to do with the ata drivers or with ALi driver support.

I wonder why he's posting on the SPARC forums and never heard of SILO, probably wants to get his # of posts up or something.
Ok, let's see, if you used the installcd config it should work since all the usual drivers to get the usual sparc boxes up are built-in.
If it says nothing it's usually related to the console driver, probably lacking some serial support (if that's what you use) or framebuffer device.

I went back and rebuilt the kernel. Weeded out the stuff I didn't need and what not. I think it would not boot because one the ata drivers for ALi something to that effect. Its up and going now. Thanks man/woman, what ever you are for trying to help and or at least making think about what was going on. YES! successfully put gentoo on a Sun Blade 150 and updated the PROM through tftp. Another mark in my bed post.
