No idea whether anyone needs this info or not, but it may help someone out sometime
after a successful installation of vpopmail you can easily install courier's IMAPD on the system with only 2 minor modifications
Step 1: "emerge net-mail/courier-imap -p" - note the version number
Step 2: "cd /usr/portage/net-mail/courier-imap"
Step 3: do a "ls" to find the .ebuild file with the same version number
Step 4: edit that file, replacing "--without-vchkpw" with "--with-vchkpw"
Step 6: "emerge net-mail/courier-imap"
... after the emerge has completed successfuly ...
Step 7: edit /etc/courier-imap/imapd, and change the line "MAILDIR=.maildir" to read "MAILDIR=Maildir"
Step 8: (optional) "rc-update add courier-imapd default"
Step 9: (optional) "/etc/init.d/courier-imapd start"
... you should now have a working IMAP installation for your vpop domain/users (great for use with IMAP clients both web-based and otherwise e.g: squirrelmail)

|
|
Here is what my courier-imapd 7.0 ebuild looks like ..
Code: | VPOPMAIL_DIR=`cat /etc/passwd | grep ^vpopmail | cut -d: -f6`
if [ -f ${VPOPMAIL_DIR}/etc/lib_deps ]; then
myconf="${myconf} --with-authvchkpw"
else
myconf="${myconf} --without-authvchkpw" |
how should i edit this to get the same results .. and must i have msql installed?
I am running qmail, courier-imap & and squirrelmail .. right now vpopmail is installed, however; when i send mail, i am not able to receive it ... |

you shouldnt need mysql installed to use the imapd. and the newer ebuilds DO detect vpopmail, so you really dont have to worry about it anymore. just make sure you do follow step 7 _________________ http://www.apokalyptik.com/ |

You didnt answer my question
Code: | Here is what my courier-imapd 7.0 ebuild looks like ..
Code:
VPOPMAIL_DIR=`cat /etc/passwd | grep ^vpopmail | cut -d: -f6`
if [ -f ${VPOPMAIL_DIR}/etc/lib_deps ]; then
myconf="${myconf} --with-authvchkpw"
else
myconf="${myconf} --without-authvchkpw"
how should i edit this to get the same results |
So i took it upon myself to make it
Code: | Here is what my courier-imapd 7.0 ebuild looks like ..
VPOPMAIL_DIR=`cat /etc/passwd | grep ^vpopmail | cut -d: -f6`
if [ -f ${VPOPMAIL_DIR}/etc/lib_deps ]; then
myconf="${myconf} --with-[b]vchkpw[/b]"
else
myconf="${myconf} --without-[b]vchkpw[/b]"
|
and then proceeded with ..
Code: | Step 6: "emerge net-mail/courier-imap"
... after the emerge has completed successfuly ...
Step 7: edit /etc/courier-imap/imapd, and change the line "MAILDIR=.maildir" to read "MAILDIR=Maildir"
Step 8: (optional) "rc-update add courier-imapd default"
Step 9: (optional) "/etc/init.d/courier-imapd start"
|
The bottom line? i have vpopmail running, works fine and works with squirrelmail ..
think i damaged something? |

you dont need to. if you have emerged vpopmail it will automatically detect it, and configured the courier-imapd package to use it. it's good to go as is _________________ http://www.apokalyptik.com/ |
