Recently I've been getting this error message when booting/resetting my SS5,
extensive google searches have not turned up anything useful, hoping someone here may be able to guide me to a solution.
This is what I get on the promt:
Code: |
ok set-defaults
Setting NVRAM parameters to default values.
ok reset
Resetting ...
Data Access Exception
Type help for more information
ok
|
Oddly this did not happen last week so its gotta be something new, I also keep getting watchdog errors whcih I believe are kernel traps when I do various things like boot net or emerge --sync etc.
Thanks for any help

Looks like I found the issue, memory in Bank #1 is not beeing detected, which means the memory is not continuous which causes the data exception error. I should have guessed that I had an issue when I saw 96MB RAM instead of 128MB, joke's on me.
Code: |
...
Probing Memory Bank #0 32 Megabytes
Probing Memory Bank #1 Nothing there
Probing Memory Bank #2 32 Megabytes
Probing Memory Bank #3 32 Megabytes
...

In case anyone else is having this issue you can generate additional messages with the test command by plugging in to a serial port and setting diag-switch? to true, then do a reset:
Code: |
ok show diag-switch?
diag-switch? = false
setenv diag-switch? true
diag-switch? = true
ok reset
...
|
