How to Download all portages then compile

hey Guys:

everytime i command emerge -avuDN world

I found, system has to download & compile portage 1 by 1.
could someone tell me how to download all portages which are needed then compile them

add "parallel-fetch" to the FEATURES section of make.conf.

if you want to do emerge after downloading packages it can be fetchonly on FEATURES
-fetchonly (-f short option)
Instead of doing any package building, just perform fetches for
all packages (main package as well as all dependencies.) When
used in combination with --pretend all the SRC_URIs will be
displayed multiple mirrors per line, one line per file.
