Does anyone have any information about the next gentoo release?
Any estimations when it will be released?
And what about the liveCDs? They are growing very old. Any news on the subject? |

REALLY?!
I thought that it's done when it's NOT done!
No need to play it clever. Just posting the other thread was enough... |

Oh, as for this

it's not always possible, like in my case where the liveCD can't recognize the DVD drive. It's a kernel problem. Newer kernels don't have this problem, that's why I'm asking about the new release. |

Take it easy, no need to get upset. Understand that people see a few threads like this each week. It is not just a duplicated thread:
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=es&safe=off&q=2007.0+site%3Aforums.gentoo.org&btnG=B%C3%BAsqueda&lr=
Not to count the threads in the mailing list... Something that gets boring.
About the "when it is done", it is the usual response on this kind of situations. So much that some people even say it this way: "when it is done (tm)", so, just learn to live with that. It is not meant to sound offensive.
Regards. |

About this, you can use any cd with better hardware support to install gentoo. Or even a running installation of any other flavour of linux that you might have. It doesn't need to be a gentoo livecd. |

You can use a KnoppixCD to Install Gentoo.
Or Sabayon, or Kanotix, or K/Ubuntu, or all others Distribution with CDs.
Sorry for my bad English. _________________ mfg

I understand what you say 6thpink, and to tell you the truth I was almost expecting such an answer. I just think that if you don't like the question, just don't answer...
You are right about the "take it easy" part though.

Thanx for the answer 6thpink.
I tried this with knoppix. The result was the same. Knoppix couldn't recognize the DVD as well. That's when I gave up and thought to wait for the new release. |
