Hi!

I finally found a way to use rhythmbox and jack together, so now I can start jackd at boot. I used this easy trick: edit .asoundrc that it looks like this:

Code:
pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave { pcm "jack" }
}

pcm.jack {
    type jack
    playback_ports {
        0 alsa_pcm:playback_1
        1 alsa_pcm:playback_2
    }
    capture_ports {
        0 alsa_pcm:capture_1
        1 alsa_pcm:capture_2
    }
}

ctl.mixer0 {
    type hw
    card 0
}
from this page : "http://alsa.opensrc.org/Jack_%28plugin%29"

It works great with rhythmbox and totem (and all other jack usual clients, together or not) but I don't get sound anymore from firefox and realplayer!

Using aoss firefox-bin or not doesn't change anything, and I got this message on the console while trying to use firefox:
Code:
cannot deliver port registration request
and aproximatly 20 entries in qjackctl but none of them able to connect to the output.

Any hints? Any idea how to make the connection possible?

Made the above URL a link and changed subject from "Rhythmbox & jack give me firefox sound issue.", as this does not appear to be caused by Rhythmbox. --desultory
