|
|
Where can I get one of these?
I've got a 2006.1 installation CD but this only seems to have 2.6.16 and 2.6.17 on it. I notice that there are various ISO s available such as 2006.0, 2005.0, 2005.1 etc.
How do I tell which kernels are on these ISOs?

From 2006.1 onwards it's all gonna be 2.6 or newer.
2006.0 and backwards is 2.4.
Careful though, you probably can't use 2006.1 stages on a 2.4 cd, you'll have to upgrade your way to 2006.1/2.4. _________________ Gustavo Zacarias

For the Sparc, can I follow the regular migration guide to get from 2.4 to 2.6, or are there Sparc-specific pitfalls to beware of? _________________ Gentoo Linux is groovy, baby! Yeah! |

That guide is pretty much accurate for sparc too.
SPARC bits: you want to use the "kbd" driver instead of "keyboard" for xorg, and you want to use regular pc keymaps in /etc/conf.d/keymaps (thus "us" rather than "sunkeymap").
Other than that it's pretty much the same (gentoo-sources, nuke devfsd, emerge udev, emerge -u linux-headers glibc, use module-init-tools, use lvm2 rather than lvm-user and so on). _________________ Gustavo Zacarias
