i wanted to update everything to the lastest stable release so I did
emerge rsync
emerge -u portage # which the rsync recommended
emerge -u system
and finally
emerge -Dun world
the emerge got all the way to mikmod - failed to find a patchfile,
specifically | Quote: | | patch-mikmod-3.1.6-a |
so the emerge died. I cannot find this patch file anywhere else to download it by hand so I think I am stuck. But i think I should tell someone about this perfore it hits too many of us.
Question #1 - where can I find this patch file?
There were only 5, unrelated things in the "update world" list after it so I started them by hand:

emerge -u app-arch/file-roller-2.2.4 |
note that i did not do -up - i figured the -up world showed it was needed.
Problem is that i get the error: no masked nor un-masked ebuilds to satisfy .. blah
which is stilly as it is of course there. Emerge just told me it found it. I try a few other things and eventually find that | Code: |
emerge -u file-roller |
will let me do the upgrade from 2.2.3 to 2.2.4
how very odd. So Question #2 is - should i log a bug on this? I would search for known bugs but the bug server is offline at the moment
