What keeps happening to my avatar? It dissappeared at some point last night/this morning and I reuploaded it, and it just vanished again. I don't understand it.

You can always try putting the image on some other server. That worked for me, once, when I had the same trouble on another discussion board running the same software in different country.

Yep.
I think it has to do with phpbb itself, as the problem was EXACTLY the same on that certain other forum.

OK, when I said there was no data loss due to all the forum moving around, I lied. Uploaded avatars got lost in the disk death. Sorry.

Ah. Ok. Not a problem.  I'll link it from my university web space this time. Save the gentoo forum a tiny bit of web-space and bandwidth.

I too had to host my avatar offsite... I have not been able to restore it, I got:

I didn't actually try to upload mine bsolar. I just happened to do it that way this time. Suggests avatar directory has the wrong owner or permissions to me. If my avatar directory is wrong and I try and upload a file from local machine...
