another example of my pain:
Code: |
kpoman root # emerge -uDv world
Calculating world dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 31) dev-lang/tcl-8.4.3 to /
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) tcl8.4.3-src.tar.gz
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking tcl8.4.3-src.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/tcl-8.4.3/work
gzip: stdout: Broken pipe
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: line 1178: 3502 Segmentation fault tar xz --no-same-owner -f ${DISTDIR}/${x}
!!! ERROR: dev-lang/tcl-8.4.3 failed.
!!! Function unpack, Line 271, Exitcode 139
!!! failure unpacking tcl8.4.3-src.tar.gz
kpoman root #

Are you sure that your CFLAGS are set correctly? _________________ I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. |

yeah they are :
Code: | kpoman / # cat /etc/make.conf | grep -i flags
# The available list of use flags with descriptions is in your portage tree.
# useflags for you. 'emerge app-admin/ufed'
# For optimal performance, enable a CFLAGS setting appropriate for your CPU.
#CFLAGS="-mcpu=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe"
#CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe"
CFLAGS="-march=athlon-tbird -O3 -pipe -mmmx -m3dnow"
# If you set a CFLAGS above, then this line will set your default C++ flags to
#CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
# settings and USE flags in SRC_URI and has wide effects --
kpoman / #

yes i dont know why i put that ... think i saw it somewhere ... but i can retire it if needed,
but anyway, my system was working, so the only cause that harmed it would have been those binaries being upgraded, in which case, i'd like to know what's the port name to downgrade/rebuild with other Cflags
so ... what's the build name for chown, ls, etc... ? _________________ please, help me, pity on me :'( |

ok i found out what was the problem,
i did some
strace tar zxvf whatever ...
and there was something about ldap,
then i removed all pam.d config files containing ldap,
still the problem there even rebooting,
then i commented completely /etc/ldap.conf and it started working ... weir, bloody .. everything was working time ago ... LDAP sucks
thanks though it was kind of difficult to find out _________________ please, help me, pity on me :'( |

You could try an "emerge unmerge ldap", then deleting ldap.conf and associated LDAP config files (I don't know if there are any beside that one), then "emerge -uD ldap" and see if that fixes your problem. But you're right, it is a bit of a poser! |
