I have just read several posts about the problems with 3d rendering and X with my new radeon 9500, but now i am really confused:

- Ati- drivers from portage has no support for xfree 4.3, right? or have anyone more news referring this?
- but also the ati-drivers from portage says it supports r300 models. Isn´t this the radeon 9500??
- I have seen drivers for xfree 4.3.0 here:
http://www.schneider-digital.de/html/download_ati.html and as can be read in the readme it has support for several radeons, included mine 9500.

Any help?

thanx & greetz

ati-drivers in portage supports your card and your xfree version. They are the drivers found at Schneider Digital installed by an ebuild.

If you wait a couple of hours, you can sync and get 2.9.13 instead of 2.9.12.

I'm trying to get the radeon drivers to work with my system also, but I'm getting an error I can't fix.

I emerged xfree-drm, and ati-drivers (2.9.12), but when I run modprobe radeon I get
radeon 109828 0 (unused)

why is this happening?

my system:
Abit NF7-S
2x256PC3200 ram
ATI 9500Pro

EDIT: I'm using gs-sources with nforce2 agpgart compiled in.

I´m not 100% about this but if the module appears as unused it´s because you are not running X. load x and have a lokk again to the module.

greetz!
