Hello,
I have sound working in kde3, but cannot get any sound from my cdrom with a music disk in.
I have installed Mandrake, redhat, suse, and all work fine.
What can I change in gentoo to correct this?
Thanks _________________ Best Regards,

What do you use to play the CD?

xmms or kcd
I have been trying various cd players in the hope that one would work.

Do you have an audio cable going from the drive to your sound card? _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

So, I would guess the cable is there. Check your mixer settings, it might be muted or something. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

I have read that other distros will play CDs without an audio cable.
Something about audio over the IDE channel I think. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

If you get the cdread plugin for xmms, you can play music through the ide cable. You probably just don't have an audio cable. Windows doesn't use an audio cable, so most new manufactured systems don't include it.
to use the cdread plugin, go to load directory, and go to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0, or whatever yours is. |
