Hi!

Yesterday I've emerged dev-sources kernel and enabled SpeedStep for my Thinkpad T23 with Mobile Pentium III

How can I check if SpeedStep is working?

i'm not sure if it will work but have you tried

Code:
cat /proc/cpuinfo

it has the clock rate in there.

It shows 1200MHz (100%)

As far as I understand, SpeedStep should be kind of dynamic, I have no clue how to find out if it works or not.

Hi JensZ!

I've already looked at this utility, but I think I have problems with ACPI. I have compiled it into kernel (dev-sources), but during boot I get
Code:

acpi tables contain no pci irq routing

I don't know if autospeedstep relies on ACPI, but cat /proc/cpuinfo always shows CPU at 100%

Do you have entry's in /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/* and if so what
is printed if you da a echo /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/throttling,
it's also possible that you need a newer patch to make PIII working
i think i can remember some issues try http://www.linux.org.uk/mailman/private/cpufreq/
