|
|
Does anyone know enough about the gory details of fixpackages to help me?
I build packages on a build host in a chroot'd environment using emerge -b. Then I mount /usr/portage read only on the target host and install with emerge -k. All was working fine until fixpackages appeared.
I can run fixpackages fine on my build host, but on my target, every time I do anything with emerge I get the "performing global updates" message. The update then fails because it can't write to /usr/portage.
I can see 4 options here:
1. Someone points out what I'm doing wrong.
2. There's a way to tell fixpackages that the tbz2 files are ok
3. Someone can tell me what else fixpackages updates so I can do something on the target to convince fixpackages that it has nothing to do
4. I go and repeat this lot in bugzilla.
Hope someone can help

No-one?
Another idea. If I track down the files with update info (not too tricky I guess) then, once I've run fixpackages on my build host, can I delete them? Or will this mess up something else...

I will bite..
I build binary tbz2 on my system and send them to my other systems .....
I use samba I have a share of /usr/portage/packages them I mount as root on the clients. then I just run emerge -u world --deep -bk. I have been having problem with fixpackages too, I have alot on of them in my ALL dir. Like 650 to be exact ....... I am still looking for a better way to manages my storage of them .. like cleaning out outdated versions ect. |
