during the gentoo installation, a seperate terminal where the install guide and possibly the kde/sound etc setup guide is displayed. It doesnt have to be X, just a graphical version of the web pages that is displayed on terminal 6 or something

that will save printing out reams and reams of paper before you install gentoo

I agree, some other docs should be included not only install.txt (which can be displayed with 'less install.txt' - but you already knew that I guess [the other docs could be viewed with lynx or so after installation as well, so it doesn't make that much sense to include the other docs - but anyway they only use a few kb])

Forgive me if this sounds stupid, can't you do this already ?

I haven't had a look during the install process before, but I know that Debian at least gives you 3 terminal windows to play with during the install process.

Would seem stupid if Gentoo doesn't give you at least 3 terms to play with at boot time from install CD (before bootstrapping etc).

you have more terms in gentoo (would be quite senseless to look at the doc, quit less, do the next step, less doc, quit, next step etc. :)

but he/we are talking about not only having the install.txt on the installation CD but other docs, like java guide, nano guide etc.

Sorry I was mainly targetting at the original comment which lead me to believe TheCoop was just after more terms:

If it is a case of more documentation, having the HOWTOs available is always nice, or the 'man' package is that is technically possible ?

Probably. The're in a xml format, so tearing a text version from them should be super-easy.
