I tried running revdep-rebuild in a vain attempt to figure a printing problem and now there's about 200 messages about broken .la files:

Code:
Checking dynamic linking consistency...
  broken /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/lib-org-w3c-dom.la (requires /usr/lib/libgcj.la)
  broken /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/lib-org-xml-sax.la (requires /usr/lib/libgcj.la)
  broken /usr/lib/kde3/libkfilereplacepart.la (requires /usr/kde/3.3/lib/libkhtml.la)
  broken /usr/lib/kde3/libkfilereplacepart.la (requires /usr/kde/3.3/lib/libkjs.la)
  broken /usr/lib/kde3/libkfilereplacepart.la (requires /usr/kde/3.3/lib/libkdeprint.la)
  ...

revdep-rebuild wants to re-emerge =sys-devel/gcc-3.4.5-r1 so I let it, but it doesn't fix the problem and when I run it again, it once again wants to rebuild gcc.

Looking in the .la files, there are indeed references to kde-3.3 and kde-3.4. I know that fix_libtool_files.sh is used to fix .la files when upgrading gcc, but what is the proper way to fix them in this case?

Incidently I've run revdep-rebuild probably 10 times since the timestamp on these .la files and I have no idea why revdep-rebuild suddenly decided to complain about this.

Thanks for the quick reply! It sounds like I should link the libgcj.la files (until a bug is fixed) and delete the ones with the old kde-3.3 and kde-3.4 references.

This has been discussed in topic: "Persistent revdep-rebuild issues: gcc and libgcj.la".
